Reindeer leather bracelets
embellished with pewter braid and fastened with a leather loop and
bone button have long been fashion staples in the Nordic countries
(Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden). The most traditional material
for reindeer leather bracelets is natural tan leather, later black was added, and now artisans
dye reindeer leather many different colors. While pewter thread
is traditional for these leather bracelets, artists
have begun experimenting with copper and other materials.
NOTE: Reindeer leather
stretches a bit in the beginning. Traditionally, men and women wear a new
bracelet tight just above or below the wrist bone. We like to wear several reindeer leather bracelets
at once.
SIZING: Our Classic
design reindeer leather bracelets come in several sizes. Different artisans position the button
differently (according to the tradition they learned). The measurement given corresponds to the bracelet's size when fastened.
